Undergraduate Admissions Print

Application for admission to the College of Environmental Design is made through UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The filing period for fall-semester admissions is November 1 to November 30. Berkeley does not accept applications for spring semester admissions.

All prospective students must meet the general admission requirements defined by the University of California. Transfer applicants must also meet the College of Environmental Design’s transfer eligibility requirements. The requirements for UC Berkeley change-of-college applicants differ based on year of entry. See Undergraduate Advising—Admissions for further information.

Each major has a limited number of admission slots, and admission committees must make difficult choices among many qualified applicants. Satisfaction of minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.

Non-California Resident Applicants. All applicants are welcome; however, applicants who are not California residents typically face more stringent admissions requirements than California residents. Applications from outside the United States must be submitted early in the application period because of the time required for delivery of overseas mail. Applicants from other countries should consult the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for more information. Advice and resources are also available from Services for International Students and Scholars.

Portfolios. Please note that porftolios are NOT considered as part of the application process. Any sent to the University either will be discarded or returned to sender.
